Education

At The Music Place we believe learning a musical instrument has numerous benefits for children. We have established an excellent working relationship with our Local Education Authorities. We offer parents the opportunity to purchase instruments for their children through the Instrument Rental Scheme and the Assisted Purchase Scheme. Our experienced staff will guide you to choose the most suitable instrument for your child’s requirement and answer any questions you have.

Instrument Rental

We understand that a new instrument can be a considerable investment, especially if your child has only recently commenced their lessons. For this reason, we are pleased to offer a ‘try before you buy’ service. Provided your child receives lessons in school and the instrument is of a suitable standard for their playing level you may rent an instrument for three months before you decide to purchase it.

Following the three-month rental period you may purchase the instrument less the rental amount paid. We will happily settle the balance through the Assisted Purchase Scheme at this point. (See below for further details.) Should your child decide not to continue with the instrument, simply return it to us in its original condition*.
Please phone, email or call in for more information.
*We reserve the right to charge for any repair/replacement costs incurred by damage sustained during the rental period.

Please note it is a requirement that the hirer has sufficient insurance to cover the replacement value of the instrument whilst it is in their possession.

Assisted Purchase

This scheme allows you to save on the purchase price of your child’s instrument by purchasing it through your Local Education Authority. Provided your child receives lessons in school and the instrument is of a standard suitable for their level of playing, you may save the VAT element of the price. In certain cases you may also qualify for additional educational discounts.

Please phone, email or call in for more details.

Instruments regularly purchased on this scheme include:

  • Woodwind: Clarinets, Flutes, Saxophones, Oboes and Bassoons
  • Brass: Trumpets, Cornets, Tenor Horns, Barritone Horns and Euphoniums
  • Strings: Violins, Violas and Cellos
  • Contemporary:  Guitars, Electric Guitars, Bass Guitars and Portable Keyboards
